Our Story

In the beginning there is just a seed, an acorn,
an idea. With the right conditions, good soil, sunshine, water, it
will one day flourish into a mighty Oak. A bank is much the same
way. Start with a strong financial foundation, add the
Madison-area's longest serving bank president, fertilize with the
finest people and systems, and soon a community institution will
rise. Recently, Oak Bank of Fitchburg passed a significant growth
milestone toward becoming 'Wisconsin's greatest bank' as it reached
$151 million in assets. We pride ourselves on being Fitchburg's
bank.
A Unique Way of Banking
From the beginning Oak Bank has been a little different. First,
the facility is unlike any other in the area. When you enter your
senses spring into action but what catches your attention first?
Is it the fresh baked cookies or flavored coffee? Maybe it's the
'living room' atmosphere complete with financial reports streaming
across the television and the fireplace warming the room.
But don't let this homey atmosphere fool you.
This is a serious bank with all of the latest in expertise,
technology, financial products, and best practices at their
client's disposal. Oak Bank has quickly developed a reputation as
an innovator in the Madison banking industry. An example of this
was when Oak Bank successfully launched the CDARS (Certificate of
Deposit Account Registry Service) program to protect deposits that
exceeded the FDIC insured limit of $100,000. Also, with local
control come quick decisions. No need to send a loan application
to Milwaukee, Rockford, or Dubuque to gain approval.
A Community Bank
Since its inception, Oak Bank has become a
good friend to Fitchburg and the surrounding communities. The
annual Pumpkin Give-Away has
already become a Dane County institution, having donated thousands
of dollars to the Community Shares' Rainbow Project. Oak Bank has
become immersed in the Fitchburg community by involving itself
with numerous events, projects, and sponsorships including the
Fitchburg Farmer's Market, support of the Fitchburg Police
Department, Fitchburg Concerts in the Park, the Fitchburg Fire
Department, Fitchburg Boys & Girls Club, Fitchburg's Bark in
the Park, and Little League, to name just a few.
Oak Bank associates continue to involve
themselves in local charitable
organizations such as Easter Seals, Share Your Holidays, and
take leadership positions in service organizations such as the
Fitchburg/Verona Rotary, Downtown Madison Rotary, Fitchburg
Chamber Economic Development Board, Fitchburg Chamber of Commerce,
Fitchburg Days, Realtors Association, Madison Area Builders
Association, Altrusa International, Inc. of Madison, and
Fitchburg's New Economy Technology Team.
Our Leader
Founding Oak Bank was Bob Gorsuch's dream. He wanted to open a new
bank able to provide quality personal service that people want.
With over 40 years of banking experience, Bob's visionary
leadership has resulted in a bank committed to its clients,
community and shareholders. He organized an institution with the
highest degree of personal touch with the technology and expertise
that is years ahead of traditional banks.
You don't have to take our word for it.
Stop by and meet our team and experience first hand why we are
different. We would love to help you turn your acorns into
mighty oaks!
