Chief Lending Officer -- Successful and growing Community Bank

Job Description: Senior level position focused on commercial lending relationship management. Duties include: representing the bank in developing and maintaining client relationships with the most important/key clients and generating revenues; actively participating in the completion of major transactions; originating, structuring and executing the largest most complex transactions related to traditional commercial Lending and/or their credit related products. Act as a team leader in overseeing a group of relationship managers.

Minimum Qualifications: 8 - 10 years experience in account relationship management. Comprehensive knowledge of commercial Lending and loan servicing; and of all commercial products and credit practices, risk management, negotiating interest rates and price, terms and collateral requirements. Should demonstrate success in sales and marketing, and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills. Strong team player.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate high integrity, a sincere commitment to extraordinary service and strong relationships, and the ability to work as a proactive self-starter and team player. Outstanding customer service and business development skills are required, along with strong credit analysis skills and a minimum of 5 years of commercial Lending experience.

Commercial Lender

Job Summary: Develops, manages and services all of the financial needs of an assigned loan portfolio. Enhances relationships by cross-selling the Bank’s products and services. Develops new relationships from referrals and outside calling efforts. Must have knowledge of Bank’s policies, procedures and practices in commercial banking along with a focus on servicing client needs. Responsible for the collection of delinquent loan clients and overdrafts.

Duties: 
Client Servicing 
• Provide quality, personalized service to ensure client satisfaction and retention 
• Provide timely follow up with clients by telephone, written correspondence or personal contact 
• Manage an assigned profitable loan portfolio by analyzing and assessing client needs and underwrite new credit requests 
• Analyze client’s financial data and ensure current information is on file 

Selling 
• Profile clients and prospects to recognize and identify both business and personal sales opportunities 
• Develop relationships through client and employee referrals, community involvement, and sales calls. Track and report on a monthly basis 
• On-site calling of current clients and prospects 
• Cross selling bank products to ensure continued growth in all areas of the bank 
• Participates in business development activities for the purpose of attracting additional profitable business for the Bank 

Lending 
• Interview commercial and consumer loan applicants, gather the required information for credit application, explaining loan options, rates, terms and collateral requirements 
• Assist clients in completing loan application forms, verifying client credit by completing appropriate credit checks, performing financial ratios, analyzing cash flow to determine if client is a credit risk and performing on site visits 
• Complete and obtain all necessary paperwork including: loan information sheets, financial statements, insurance and all needed documentation prior to the loan closing 
• Insure credit quality by adhering to loan policy guidelines 
• Responsible for collection of delinquent accounts and exceptions on a timely basis 
• Decisions on overdraft clients 

Performance Measurement 
• Meet selling and calling expectations 
• Meet qualified referral expectations 
• Adhere to Bank expectations for quality, quantity and timeliness of all documentation and correspondence 
• Adhere to documentation and compliance policies and procedures 

Management 
• Participate in Bank’s Officer Loan Committee 
• Contribute to the ongoing maintenance and development of the Bank’s loan policy 
• Continually review journals, articles, publications and other materials to review regulatory and legal changes that are pertinent to Bank operations 
• Maintain professional and community relations to increase the bank’s visibility and new business opportunities and to further personal development. 
• Undertakes special projects and duties as assigned

Education, Experience & Skills 
• Strong listening and communication skills 
• High level of analytical skills to conduct initial loan analysis and monitor the loan’s progress in consideration of market trends, interest rates, economic conditions and other factors 
• Strong, well developed interpersonal skills in order to maximize business contacts and develop a working relationship with current loan clients and prospects 
• Strong knowledge of bank products and services and lending policies 
• Negotiating skills to satisfy both client needs and maintain profitability to the bank. (e.g. terms, fees, repayment, collection, etc.) 
• Excellent attention to detail and follow through skills 
• Ability to make responsible decisions, use good judgment and problem solve 
• PC skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel and ability to learn other programs 
• Operate general office equipment, to include but not limited to: multi-line phone operation, voice mail system, personal computer, typewriter, copy machine and fax machine 
• Continue to develop skills and knowledge, in areas of product knowledge, documentation, selling, and general banking through in-house training, seminars, classes, professional schools, or some other type of continuing education. 
• Prefer college degree and some accounting or finance background. 
• Prefer 3-5 years lending experience
